quick question, I was trying to trouble shoot a pie, If i load the hypno firmware on an appropriate pie but I do not connect the hypno DIY board to the header pins, the screen seems frozen on startup. Is this correct, or should it just boot up normally and function with MIDI and not have any knobs or sliders.

It won’t work without the board.
There are discussions on the forum about using the image to test Hypno before buying or using as a software instrument but Ron has made clear it’s not an option at present.
So if you’re into the Hypno please support Sleepy by buying the kit or module
