Metal Faceplate?

Any chance for a metal faceplate? Don’t get me wrong, I love the white faceplate, but I’d love to have a a metal plate for durability purposes.

Hey @ai_botfly welcome to the forum!

Our faceplates are constructed of FR-4 which is an incredibly durable material made from layers of woven fiberglass and epoxy.

To give you an idea of how strong it is, I pulled this from a manufacturer’s blog:

It is well-known as one of the strongest plastic materials available… FR-4 rivals the strength of some metals. The Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTI) of FR-4 is 45,000 PSI while the UTI of cast iron is 29,000 PSI. Copper comes in at 31,900 PSI and aluminum is 43,500 PSI. Structural Steel has an UTI of 40,000 PSI.

FR-4 is also flame resistant, chemical resistant, water-proof, non-conductive, lightweight and UV resistant! Needless to say, it should suit just about anyone’s needs for durability.

The expander panel could be a little thicker, it’s pretty bendy and rubs against neighboring
modules.
