So I am psyched for Hypno 2 and hoping to save up for one, but I’m trying to figure out whether I should resell my OG Hypno or not. I mainly use it with my semi-modular synths and Digitakt, so I really love the CV and MIDI functionality. But is there any reason to hold onto the original if I’m planning on getting Hypno 2? I feel like most of the functions I use are replicated in the new model, but wondered if I’m missing anything.
Hey there, I’m in the same corner here.
I use it for my audiovisual performance with Digitakt and a eurorack case, and I decided to “invest” in Hypno 2 having in mind to then sell the Hypno 1 to make it more financially comfortable.
I think it’s best doing it that way if you can to be sure you’re transitioning smoothly from one device to the other. That depends on how you use it I guess.
To me there’s still a bunch of features lacking that I hope will be available in future updates regarding the MIDI controls. Now you can’t control the folder/file selection over MIDI, I’m used to randomize it with the Digitakt, and also you can’t midi control internal modulations the way you could the OG, so I’m hoping there’s a plan for it.
All that said, Hypno 2 is incredible, the internal modulations alone are worth it, and we finally get a flexible way to control it in CV !
