Hi everyone,
I have a setup question:
Can the Hypno be MIDI controlled from a computer (via Max/MSP) while simultaneously receiving a USB video feed (from a webcam or a USB capture card)?
In other words – can I have:
- USB connection to the computer for MIDI control from Max
- USB video input from a webcam/capture card
… both active at the same time, without switching modes or unplugging anything?
If yes, what’s the exact connection setup? If not, is there a workaround (USB OTG hub, splitters, etc.) to make it work?
When I first got my Hypno, I used the USB out from my Elektron Digitakt to send midi to it. I had no problem with a usb flash drive or webcam connected simultaneously. I’ve never used my MacBook to control any hardware, but you should have no problem.
Since then, I decided to reduce cables on all my gear and started using bluetooth midi with a CME WIDI Bud Pro connected to Hypno via usb, and a WIDI Master connected to the Digitakt. Once again, no problem with a video source connected to usb at the same time.
I also use a CME H4MIDI WC with the WIDI core. I highly recommend their boxes.
