Feedback re: firmware 0.0.179

Hey Folks,

Wondering what people are thinking about the new firmware. I’ve been enjoying it overall, but there have definitely been some bugs. Here’s what I’ve observed:

  • Need to get back the dialogue re: do you want to put the recording in to the active channel. Not having it makes things worse when you just want to record the state of the machine without loading it.

  • Need to fix the line-in audio input - currently not functioning at all

  • I have a drive that only works in desktop mode - very odd behaviour.

  • Hypno crashes if you errantly try to load a file with the middle button selected; before it was just a dead click type thing. not stable behaviour

  • Even if you change the name and password of the unit in settings, when you connect over samba on mac os 26.3 to log in you still have to use the init li/pw

  • Recording videos with sound has been uneven. The playback of the final video is far from what one would expect. Big difference between the final output of recording in obs vs in the hypno; hypno recording sounds broken / glitchy

That’s it for now. Thanks!

Also! (a couple of things came up in a session yesterday)

  • plugging in / selecting a usb camera as a source tends to crash the device, though once you turn it back on, it runs fine.
  • I occasionally get these errors where I get a dialogue that basically says the front panel is non-responsive. Hard to understand what to attribute it to.

The bounce playback mode is persistently malfunctioning as well. Either it just loops of stalls. Also when you change the length of the loop some of the playback modes are inconsistent.

Hi,

I don’t know whether this is consulted often for feedback, have you sent a ticket through support ?

I can confirm the bugs regarding the video recordings being automatically set to active channel (I also get three new icons above the channel’s gain ‘V / & / A’), I too got the message about disconnected hardware controls at one startup, the bounce playback is indeed buggy (freezes for a second every five bounce or so).

The aux in still works on my end.

Couldn’t test the rest of your observations.

Cheers !

Yeah I’m just curious about feedback from other users. Ron is pretty good about responding to support tickets. Thanks for sharing your experience!! The A and V are for Audio and Video - they can be decoupled in a video now!!

I see ! I’ll try out the audio integration soon, it sounds promising

It’s reassuring to know that the ‘no control board response’ message is obviously due to the firmware and not a unit problem, but it certainly happens very often, so I hope the fix will come soon

I’m also noticing persistent freezing when I try to load new files into a channel, particularly when outputting the video to a projector. It might be that I have to adjust the output resolution, but some things load fine, but others really cause it to buckle. When I restart and restore the session, often the file that made the system crash loads perfectly. After a while it. “settles down” and that behaviour is less persistent. Pretty buggy vibes. I’d also be interested in the option to roll back the firmware if I needed to for a show.
