I am curious about the eurorack version I just ordered off reverb. This is capable of doing everything the standalone can, correct? I want to update the firmware to 2.4.4. Could someone please help me do this properly bc I am not familiar with raspberry. I hope I don’t have to buy another board to do this.
If it’s eurorack capable, then it’s based on PI3 rather than the current PI4. You’ll know it’s the eurorack version as there’s a micro-USB port in the upper right corner. If that all checks out, you’ll still need to get yourself a way to bring the HDMI to the front panel. There used to be a 2HP blank that fit a HDMI jack, but I believe it was discontinued due to the “fidgety-ness” of the HDMI ribbon cable used to connect it back tot he hypno. I dunno, but mine’s working fine. As for support, all PI3-based Hypnos are end of life. There is a PI4 CM you can procure that is socket compatible with the PI3 that you can pick up and should let you stay up to date with current PI4+ future releases. Search around, I just did this and I think Ron chimes in with some details about HDMI/Composite support on the PI4’s. Good luck!
No real advantage of upgrading to pi4 at the moment, the upscaler is working better in 3 and easier to switch to composite and back to HDMI on pi3.
