Can't power on my Hypno!

Hello,
I’d be grateful for some advice…I just received my Hypno, and a USB-c to USB-A was included with the package. I purchased a Raspberry Pi adapter as recommended, but it terminates in a USB-c and there seems to be no USB-c power input. So how do I power this thing? Do I need a USB-c to USB-micro adapter?
Not a good start here!
Please help -
Jim

Update – I see there’s a USB-c port in the rear, but I plugged my Raspberry Pi adapter into it after plugging in an HDMI cable to both the Hypno and my Macbook pro, as well as my iPad, and there’s no power. Help would be gratefully appreciated!

Friends…finally seeing video on OBS. Here’s what I did, and I’m not sure why this is working…questions below…I’d be grateful for your input.

  1. Plugged in an HDMI cable into an HDMI to USB C capture card into my Macbook Pro. Can I not go direct from HDMI to the HDMI input on my MacBook?
  2. Using the USB-C to USB A cable that came with my Hypno, and plugging it into a USB Hub into my Macbook. The Raspberry Pi adapter going into the rear of the Hypno won’t work!!! Any idea why that would be?
  3. It took a few minutes for the Hypno to power up and stream images. Is this normal?
Thank you, and sorry to bug –
    Jim

That’s not an HDMI input on your MacBook, it’s an output. One way traffic only. Can’t answer any of your other Q’s.

Ah!!! This is my newbie problem!! Need to learn this!!! Thank you –

Hello All – I’m having so many problems! I’d be so grateful for your input:

  1. Official Raspberry Pi adapter won’t power the Hypno when plugged into the USB C port in the rear. Do I instead need a micro USB converter to go from USB C to micro on the right side of the Hypno for power?
  2. When I power with the included USB C cable and plug into my MacBook for power the Hypno keeps shutting off.
I’m reading the online documents, but I can’t find answers to this and my head is spinning!
    Thank you,
    Jim

Make sure the Hypno and Pi are firmly connected together.

They are indeed…just having all these issues! I just went online and bought another power supply, just in case the one I received is faulty. Annoying, but I’m too excited to use my Hypno!

Is the FW update switch in the correct position? Assuming your Hypno has a Pi CM4.
Fast forward to minute 01:44 in the video to see switch operation.

Hello Mr. Mule — Grateful for your advice. I don’t know if I have a CM4…I just received a new one from Sleepy. Really frustrated because I just want to enjoy this thing! Nothing is working.

Click the provided link and FF the video to 01:44 and if your unit has a switch in the location shown, make sure it’s not in the firmware update position. Can’t get any simpler.

edit: Well, maybe it can.

Hi again Mr. Mule – I carefully opened the enclosure and separated the top from bottom, but there doesn’t seem to be any such switch. Thanks again -

That’s all I got. Kinda surprised none of the devs have chimed in.

Jim,

Hi! So sorry to hear about your Hypno.
You’ve bought a an official Rasberry Pi4 USB-C power supply & you’re powering it from Hypno’s top, slightly-recessed USB-C power input correct?

Try a normal HDMI monitor first, before any sort of capture card or extra USB devices plugged into hypno.

Thanks so much, Cinema. Appreciate your help.
My newly arrived Pi adapter worked wonders…though it takes a little time to power up so that all the LEDs light up on the panel. Is this normal?

yes! hypno’s boot process takes under a minute generally. but that sounds very promising!
