I purchased a cheap $20 BlueAVS HDMI capture card and have been using it to record my Hypno into my computer. I also run the Hypno out to a CRT TV, and the colors on the TV are so much more vibrant.
Would a better capture card be able to more accurately reproduce those colors?
You can point a camera at the CRT screen, this is a classic method, it’s called rescanning. Yovolzol made a fun video about capture methods:
It’s worth looking at what the display settings are on the CRT because there is likely to be some basic processing of the hypno’s signal. For example colour saturation might be turned up.
In terms of capture cards the difference between cheap & expensive ones is mainly frame rate and upscaling. I haven’t seen colour reproduction talked about in this context.
