I last used my Hypno about a year ago. It have been sitting on my shelf the whole time, without me using it at all. To my surprise, when I plugged it again to prepare for an upcoming project, i only got a very very glitchy signal (attached picture). It worked all fine the last time i used it.
When i received my Hypno, I struggled to make it work through composite and made a post on Reddit about it, here.
To summerize my process, I updated the firmwire to “Hypno 2.4.4 PI4/CM4 NTSC w/ Composite (Disables HDMI)” through the SD card with Balena Etcher and it all went fine. I then realised that connected half way through in the 3.5mm Hypno input, I could see part of the signal passing and reacting to my commands on the device, although it was very very glitchy (exactly like the attached picture). When the cable was fully pushed in, I only had a black screen.
Trying different cables I had, it finally worked with this exact cable with only the red RCA connector plugged.
Now, even this cable (fully pushed in) get me the very glitchy signal… What could be the problem?
To be honest, knowing it would have been such a drag to simply make it work, I don’t think I would have bought the thing. And for that price, I was also so disappointed by the cheap plastic enclosure. The screws are very loose in their sockets and it makes the Hypno very shaky in it… When plugging/unplugging something, I litteraly have to hold the whole thing together to compensate the screws not holding anything.
Help would be much appreciated, thank you.
